What is furry?

The furry fandom is a subculture interested in anthropomorphic animal characters. Some examples of anthropomorphic attributes include exhibiting human intelligence and facial expressions, speaking, walking on two legs, and wearing clothes. The term "furry fandom" is also used to refer to the community of people who gather on the Internet and at furry conventions.

What is “Jingai” (Non-Human)?

“Jingai” (人外) is a general term referring to fictional, non-human species — a common element in ACG (Anime, Comics, and Games) subculture.
This is the category we refer to as “fantasy creatures” in our event.

The term originates from Japanese and broadly refers to entities that are not human, such as yokai (spirits or demons), animals, demi-humans, robots, and more. In ACG contexts, “Jingai” typically refers to characters who are different from humans in appearance or nature, but who possess some form of intelligence or emotions, and are capable of interacting with humans.

The definition of “Jingai” is fluid and open-ended, with no strict boundaries. It can be understood from both a broad and narrow perspective:

In a broad sense, it includes all non-human beings, such as mythical creatures, animals, aliens, spirits, and so on.

In a narrower sense, it emphasizes non-human beings that share certain similarities with humans or can interact with them — such as demi-humans, intelligent non-human species with human-like civilizations, or sentient robots.

In short, “Jingai” is an all-encompassing concept whose interpretation may vary depending on the context.
